Living in New York we are lucky enough to experience some great events, including Toy Fair. After a full day of appointments at Toy Fair, and then a Cocktail party at Hasbro to celebrate Mr. Monopoly’s 80th birthday, learning of the awesomingly amazing toys heading our way this Spring, and Fall we headed home full of laughs, and images we couldn’t wait to share with our children.

However just as we caught a glimpse of the George Washington bridge all lit up, we realized we couldn’t pass go without the help of a good guy.
As we recapped the evening, laughter filled our little Acura. So much so, it took us a minute or three to realize the pulling of the car clearly meant we had a blow out! OH NO! On the West Side Highway, ugh what to do?! Ok first attempt was to call the hubby, obviously this situation is one of the reasons I couldn’t wait to get married. HA!
Sadly that was an Epic fail, ZZZZzzzzZZZZZ…….
He probably couldn’t hear his phone ringing over his snores.
Moving on we called Acura Road Side, and although the woman was lovely she basically couldn’t offer us assistance because of our location?! Who made these rules of who can and can not go on certain highways? Unfortunately only one tow company is allowed on the West Side Highway and to tow us to the nearest avenue was $125, then another $75 to change the tire… SAY What?! No thanks. I would have rather leave the vehicle and take a ride on the nearest railroad.
With New York’s finest sitting beside me, (three females, me, police officer, and a BronxMama) we took our chances and flagged down the nicest guy, who was once a mechanic! What are the odds?
God is Good!
Not that it was hard for him to resist us in our Mr. Monopoly top hats, standing on the side of the road. Worst case if he acted up, off to jail he would have went.
We are so thankful for Anthony from New Jersey, not only did he change our tire, he was a sweetheart. I explained we are bloggers and photograph everything and he happily obliged and posed for pics. He put up with our shenanigans, listened to our stories, and changed a tire in 20 degrees. This guy needs a medal!
What else would we do, when we find Gia’s school project and her luggage in my trunk?!
Are we there yet?
Seriously though I was a little frightened to think of what we could have possibly encountered, but as I said God is Good, and he sent us an angel to assist us.
Thank you Anthony!

Mr. Monopoly! He’s been around for that long? It’s so nice that this man changed your tire in the freezing cold!

It is scary to think about who or what you could have encountered. But its super great that you met a nice person who helped!

Omg a blown out tire in the night time would just terrify me! LOL at your comments about him not hearing the phone over his snores, cracked me up. I can’t stand those little loopholes when you call roadside assistance, it would frustrate me to no end, especially if I was on my own! Good lord. Good to hear you flagged down a freakin’ mechanic, that’s awesome. And I love that you took photos of him hahahahaha.
I remember having a flat tire one of my first years of driving. So a cop pulled over and tried to help change the tire, but he broke the tire iron! So then he ended up leaving (!?!? LOL) and I had to call my parents. Luckily they saved the day. Jeesh.
GCilenti says
Thankfully not much terrifies me, especially when a police officer was sitting beside me. How funny your cop broke your tire iron and and left?!?! Now a days cops won’t even help you, not that your cop gave much assistance! Thank God for your parents. Check back for more funny stories we are a comedic bunch.

Far too many people post negative, or scary stories about their time in NY/NJ. It was great to read one that was filled with nice people.
