In an abundance of caution, in light of fears of the COViD19, states are beginning widespread school closures to fight coronavirus. I am sharing online learning resources to continue to educate our children, during this challenging time. While some schools are closing for a week or two to disinfect, others are shutting down for the remainder of the year and turning to online resources.
Our personal favorites are ABCMouse for our 8 year old, and Khan Academy for our middle schooler. In light of recent events and the need for us as well as many others to supplement classroom learning we are willing to give other websites listed below a trial and hello they are Free so why not! Each lesson has a reading passage, videos, optional review questions, and self-graded practice questions. The lessons can be assigned to Google Classroom and it puts the grade in that students got on the practice questions (students must get 10 practice questions correct to get 100%). Khan Academy builds a deep, rock-solid understanding in math, grammar, science, history, SAT®, AP®, and more. It offers exercises, quizzes, and tests so students can practice and master skills, as well as instructional videos to help students learn or review material. This site is Always Free and a great resource offering personalized help with what you’re studying or to learn something completely new.
Videos, games, lesson plans and supplemental materials can be searched by grade level, subject area, keyword and standard. And PBS Learning Media’s Google Classroom integration makes it easy to share resources with your entire class.
